About Mack Glass and Canvas
Hi! I'm Mackenzie, a visual artist from Central, Newfoundland. I have been creating art since a young age, and have always found it my safe place. Since graduating from high school during COVID, I have begun my journey as an artist, in hopes of showing others that art can be their safe place as well. When not snuggling with my fur babies or hanging with family, you will always find me in my art studio, working on glass etchings, paintings, sculpting, or something new I saw that day.
Artist Statement
Growing up, I loved to watch and draw with my dad. As I went through elementary school, the only class that would have my interest would be art. Following through intermediate and high school, my course selection always included art as number one. Going through life in my teen years, I faced a lot of life struggles and would find myself expressing my emotions on a sketchpad. Art to me is more than a talent or hobby; it's my way of escaping into my own world. Creating my art through acrylic canvas allows me to show the vibrant colors, various tones, and specific details of each creation. While working with glass etching shows more detail within line work and shading, the etches only appear in one tone, which is white from the friction of the rotary tool on the glass.
